Both crude benchmarks pushed higher, extending a strong run that now spans weeks.

Commodities

US crude (USOil) rose 2.30% to $83.67, and Brent (UKOil) added 2.27% to $88.68. The move builds on a stretched trend: WTI is up 17.35% on the month and 28.51% on the year, with Brent tracking close behind at 19.33% and 29.53%.

Metals were quieter. Gold slipped 0.57% to $3,995.49, still up 6.25% year-on-year. Silver was effectively flat at $55.91 but sits down 2.92% on the week. Platinum eased 0.47% to $1,588.05.

XAUSGD Technical Snapshot: Price Sits 26% Above Its 20-Day Average

Gold / Singapore Dollar (XAUSGD) last traded at 5163.1, up 66.02% on the session as recorded by our price feed.

Trend and moving averages

With only 82 daily bars available, our read is that there is insufficient history for a long-term trend call, and the 200-day average is not yet computed. Against the shorter averages the current price sits well above both: 26.0% above the 20-day SMA (4097.64) and 23.36% above the 50-day SMA (4185.53). Both averages are therefore stacked below the last price at this reading.

Gold (XAU/USD)

About Gold (XAU/USD)

Gold has been a store of value and symbol of wealth for over 5,000 years, making it one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring financial assets. XAU/USD represents the price of one troy ounce of gold in US dollars and is one of the most actively traded instruments in global financial markets. Gold occupies a unique position in the modern financial system: it is simultaneously a commodity, a currency, an inflation hedge, and a safe-haven asset. Central banks hold over 36,000 tonnes of gold in their reserves, underscoring its continued relevance in sovereign monetary systems. Annual mine production of approximately 3,600 tonnes, combined with roughly 1,200 tonnes of recycled gold, supplies a market where demand is split between jewelry (50%), investment (25%), central bank purchases, and industrial use. Gold’s price has risen from $35 per ounce under the Bretton Woods system to levels reflecting its role as the ultimate monetary alternative.
