Precious metals were the session’s clearest bid. Silver and platinum both closed up 1.34%, at 49.78 and 1,451.87, while gold added 0.59% to 3,898.89 and palladium rose 0.49% to 992.17 β€” all four green into the New York close.

Metals

The bounce sits against a heavy month. Silver, despite today’s gain, is down 17.51% over 30 days and 7.55% on the week; platinum is off 14.40% on the month. Gold’s 5.81% monthly slide leaves it 2.05% lower on the year, while silver still holds a 2.53% annual gain. The move narrowed the damage without reversing it.

Equities

US indices closed higher but thinned out at the top. The S&P 500 added 0.41% to 7,611.53 and the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.52% to 28,532.38, though the tech benchmark is still down 2.87% on the week and 7.35% on the month. The Dow gained 0.34% to 51,963.45.

Europe was the drag. The IBEX 35 fell 1.58% to 18,563.23, the session’s weakest major index, and the Euro Stoxx 50 dropped 1.23% to 6,121.08. The CAC 40 eased 0.34%, while the DAX 40 bucked the region with a 0.30% gain to 25,857.91. In Asia, the Hang Seng rose 1.0% to 23,342.86 and the Nikkei 225 added 0.53%, though the latter remains 9.89% lower on the month.

Crypto

Uniswap was the day’s biggest gainer across all assets, up 1.95% to 7.221, though still 20.2% lower on the month. BNB rose 0.72% to 708.06. Bitcoin edged up 0.5% to 77,813.58 and Ethereum added 0.49% to 2,262.63, leaving Bitcoin down 8.16% over 30 days and 29.58% on the year.

The weak spots were further down the board. LNKUSD fell 2.18% to 11.377 and GRTUSD lost 1.97% to 0.0199 β€” the latter now down 29.18% on the month and 69.38% on the year. Solana dropped 1.07% to 94.25, extending a 21.14% monthly decline.

Currencies were quiet by comparison. The dollar held broadly steady, with EUR/USD at 1.11566 and USD/JPY at 157.68 both within 0.08% of flat; the standout was the Mexican peso, USD/MXN up 0.09% on the day to 18.7965 and 3.59% higher on the month.

Energy slipped on the session without denting its longer run: USOil fell 0.76% to 101.35 and UKOil eased 0.98% to 110.74, yet both remain sharply higher over the month (+12.16% and +8.78%) and the year (+65.57% and +70.08%). Crude stays the standout of the longer-horizon numbers.
