Crude set the session apart. Brent (UKOil) tumbled 9.06% to $94.30 and WTI (USOil) fell 8.2% to $87.90 β€” the two clear losers on a board that was otherwise broadly green.

Energy

UKOil’s drop extends a 15.17% slide over the week, while USOil is down 13.81% across the same stretch. On the month both are softer β€” UKOil 5.65% and USOil 1.45% β€” leaving the one-day fall as the sharpest leg of a broader pullback. The scale still stands out against twelve-month gains of 47.43% for UKOil and 47.13% for USOil, so the session cut into recent strength rather than the longer run.

Metals

Metals ran the other way, and led the day’s gainers. Palladium (XPDUSD) rose 6.83% to $1,007.35, platinum (XPTUSD) added 5.19% to $1,495.94 and silver (XAGUSD) climbed 4.71% to $52.23. Gold (XAUUSD) gained 3.11% to $4,060.57. The rebound was a single-session one β€” palladium is still down 14.41% on the month, silver 14.82% and platinum 12.57%.

Equities

Stock indices rallied broadly. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng led, up 4.43% to 24,445.06, ahead of Spain’s IBEX 35 at +3.6% and the Dow Jones +3.35% to 53,436.97. Germany’s DAX 40 gained 3.21% to 26,658.52, the FTSE 100 2.95% and the CAC 40 2.64%, with the Euro Stoxx 50 up 2.76% to 6,300.18. US tech trailed the move: the S&P 500 added 1.7% to 7,702.61 and the Nasdaq 100 just 1.04%, still 8.8% lower on the month. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was the index outlier, up only 0.25% and down 10.77% over thirty days.

Crypto

Ethereum (ETHUSD) jumped 6.4% to $2,416.86 and UNIUSD rose 5.56% β€” now up 17.97% on the week β€” while Bitcoin (BTCUSD) gained 3.45% to $80,009.48. The move was wide: Cardano added 3.38%, GRTUSD 3.61%, Litecoin 3.06%, BNB 2.57% and XRP 2.15% to $1.3016. Even with the bounce, the thirty-day picture stays negative, with Bitcoin off 6.47%, Ethereum 10.39% and Solana 21.75%.

Currencies

The dollar eased against higher-beta names. USDMXN fell 1.15% to 18.599 and USDZAR dropped 1.05% to 16.411, the day’s largest FX decliners, with USDPLN off 0.74%. The Australian dollar led the majors, AUDUSD up 0.55% to 0.70052, ahead of NZDUSD +0.51% and GBPUSD +0.27% to 1.34683; EURUSD added 0.19% to 1.12276. USDJPY was effectively flat at 158.41, and USDCAD slipped 0.23% to 1.39724.

The Nasdaq 100, down 8.8% on the month and 1.63% on the week, is the session’s clear laggard against an otherwise broadly higher board.
