Risk assets sold off almost everywhere as the London day wound down. Equities fell on three continents, crypto was gutted, and only crude and precious metals pushed higher — crude by nearly 4%.

Equities

Europe got off lightly next to the carnage elsewhere. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell 1.92% to 6,179.18 and the DAX 40 shed 1.82% to 26,150.53, while London’s FTSE 100 dropped 1.96% to 10,678.98. The CAC 40 held better at −0.80%, and the IBEX 35 barely moved at −0.34%.

The damage ran deeper abroad. Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 collapsed 8.46% to 57,358.26, extending a 17.88% monthly slide even as it clings to a 14.5% gain on the year. On Wall Street the Nasdaq 100 slid 6.51% to 26,555.98 — down 14.85% on the month — the S&P 500 lost 4.55% to 7,345.23, and the Dow fell 3.85% to 51,363.56. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was the lone green index, up 0.16% and 4.89% on the week.

Crypto

Digital assets took the heaviest single hits. UNIUSD led every instrument lower, down 10.65% to 6.814. Stellar fell 8.17%, Ethereum 7.94% to 2,229.59, and Cardano 7.31%, the latter now down 65.62% on the year. Bitcoin dropped 5.67% to 75,862.21 and XRP 6.15% to 1.2232. The selling was indiscriminate: Litecoin −7.25%, Dogecoin −6.64%, Solana −5.82%.

Commodities and metals

Crude bucked the tape. UKOil rose 3.95% to 97.69 and USOil 2.92% to 90.24 — the day’s two biggest gainers — though both remain down more than 11% on the week. Precious metals firmed alongside: palladium gained 2.35% to 1,031.00, platinum 1.31% to 1,518.61, and gold added 0.60% to 4,090.07, now up 5.53% on the week. Silver slipped 0.88% to 51.80 but still holds a 5.45% weekly advance.

Currencies

The risk-off tone carried into FX. The Australian dollar was the clearest casualty: AUDJPY fell 1.52% to 109.22 and AUDUSD 1.10% to 0.69255. The euro firmed against it, EURAUD up 0.95% to 1.61909. Dollar majors were comparatively still — EURUSD −0.18%, GBPUSD −0.22% to 1.34454, USDJPY −0.39% to 157.72.

The chip-heavy Nasdaq and a cratering Nikkei remain the session’s weak points, and crude’s rally stands alone against an otherwise broad retreat from risk.
