Crude led the European session lower by a wide margin. Brent (UKOil) fell 6.57% to 103.44 and WTI (USOil) dropped 6.01% to 95.25 β the day’s two sharpest moves, dwarfing everything else on the board.
Energy
The slide pared recent strength rather than erasing it. UKOil is down 5.64% on the week but still holds a 2.33% monthly gain and a 59.64% advance over the year; USOil shows -4.23% on the week against +6.05% for the month and +56.40% on the year.
Metals
Precious metals pushed the other way. Silver (XAGUSD) rose 1.57% to 50.53 and gold (XAUUSD) added 1.21% to 3,945.63 β two of the session’s top five gainers. The weekly picture is softer: silver is off 7.21% over seven days and 16.67% on the month, while gold sits at -2.88% and -4.75% on the same horizons. The platinum group lagged, with palladium (XPDUSD) down 2.44% to 967.99 and platinum (XPTUSD) flat at 1,444.90, both deep in monthly red at -17.80% and -15.22%.
Currencies
The Norwegian krone tracked crude lower, dominating the FX moves. EUR/NOK climbed 1.27% to 10.4066 and GBP/NOK rose 1.13% to 12.4675, with USD/NOK up 0.93% to 9.3001. Elsewhere the euro firmed 0.30% to 1.11876 against the dollar and the Swiss franc gained on the yen, CHF/JPY up 0.95% to 192.99. The Australian dollar was the week’s soft spot among majors, AUD/CHF off 1.24% to 0.57228.
Equities
Europe closed green while Wall Street diverged. The IBEX 35 led all instruments with a 2.0% gain to 18,934.62, ahead of the CAC 40 at +1.02% (8,036.93); the DAX 40 added 0.21% and the FTSE 100 0.23%. US futures told a different story: the S&P 500 slipped 0.76% to 7,553.08 and the Nasdaq 100 fell 1.58% to 28,075.94, extending a 5.45% weekly drop and a 9.12% monthly one.
Crypto
Digital assets sold off broadly. Bitcoin eased 1.96% to 76,700.83, down 5.07% on the week, and Ethereum slipped 1.02% to 2,248.56. The smaller tokens took the brunt: GRTUSD fell 4.0% to 0.0192, XTZUSD 3.74% to 0.2422, Litecoin 3.30% to 53.69 and Solana 3.0% to 91.52.
Crude and the krone remain the session’s clear weak spots, while silver and gold stand alone on the green side of the ledger.
