Crypto opens the day broadly green, and the sharpest moves sit at the speculative end. XTZUSD leads every instrument on the board, up 8.49% to $0.3004, with UNIUSD close behind at +8.14% to $7.5375 β both also up more than 15% on the month.
Crypto
The majors joined the bid without matching that pace. Bitcoin added 1.86% to $83,260.40, though it sits flat on the week (0.00%) and remains 26.37% lower on the year. Ethereum rose 2.56% to $2,505.88 and XRP 2.08% to $1.3674.
Further down the gainers list, Bitcoin Cash climbed 2.95% to $272.86 and Dogecoin 2.81% to $0.0842. Bitcoin Cash’s one-day pop offsets a soft week (β9.01%) but leaves it up 22.39% over the past month β a measure of how much ground the smaller tokens had already given back.
Metals
The metals complex is the session’s drag. Silver is the day’s single biggest loser, down 1.83% to $59.14 and off 6.31% on the month. Platinum fell 1.48% to $1,664.38 and palladium 1.36% to $1,127.21, with palladium now down 12.17% over 30 days.
Gold held up best of the four, slipping 0.23% to $4,160.88 while keeping a 1.28% weekly gain and sitting essentially flat on the year (β0.02%).
Currencies
The dollar is on the back foot against most majors. The rand firmed most, with USD/ZAR down 0.81% to 16.404, and the Swedish krona close behind as USD/SEK fell 0.80% to 9.9568. EUR/USD rose 0.33% to 1.11962 and GBP/USD 0.35% to 1.32544, with the Aussie up 0.34% to 0.69778 and the kiwi 0.45% to 0.56108.
The Mexican peso is the clear exception. USD/MXN rose 0.51% to 18.352, extending a 2.10% weekly and 7.13% monthly climb in the dollar’s favour. The yen barely moved β USD/JPY eased 0.11% to 158.35, though it remains up 2.55% on the month.
Indices and energy
Equity benchmarks are little changed. The CAC 40 leads at +0.44% to 7,832.88 and the DAX 40 sits +0.25% at 25,295.48, while the Dow slipped 0.40% to 51,675.34 and the Nasdaq 100 edged down 0.08% to 30,560.98 after a 2.0% weekly fall. The Nikkei 225 is up just 0.12% to 67,936.17 but still carries a 44.55% year-on-year gain.
Crude ran higher: USOil added 1.57% to $93.81 and UKOil 0.49% to $104.45, both holding weekly gains near 5-6%.
Into the new session, the metals complex is the clear weak spot β silver, platinum and palladium all lower β while crypto and the dollar’s major counterparts hold the bid.
