Crypto sets the tone into the new session, and it is red almost everywhere. UNIUSD leads the losers at -10.23%, extending a week already down 18.55%.
Crypto
UNIUSD’s slide to 6.97 is the sharpest, but the weakness is broad. GRTUSD fell 5.73% to 0.0263, Bitcoin Cash dropped 4.58% to 272.67, and XTZUSD and Cardano shed 4.24% and 4.01% to 0.2846 and 0.2415. Litecoin lost 3.53% to 62.27, Polkadot 3.28% to 1.21, and XRP 3.15% to 1.3634.
The majors held up better. Bitcoin slipped 1.0% to 82,828.10 and Ethereum eased 0.88% to 2,511.21, while BNB was the most resilient at -0.98%.
The longer lens complicates the picture. Despite the selling, Bitcoin is still up 7.86% on the month and GRTUSD sits 45.3% higher over the same window. The one-week reads are uniformly negative, though β Bitcoin Cash -12.51%, Solana -10.39%, Litecoin -9.68% β so the day extends a week-long slide rather than starting one.
Commodities and the dollar
Oil is the clear counterweight. USOil rose 2.48% to 92.37 and UKOil added 2.41% to 103.95, the two biggest gainers on the board. Both carry outsized annual gains β USOil +55.73%, UKOil +64.42% β though USOil remains 6.36% lower on the month.
The dollar opens firm. USDCHF climbed 0.51% to 0.83395 and USDJPY added 0.29% to 158.63, now 3.4% higher on the month. EURUSD slipped 0.44% to 1.11517, down 3.79% over the month, and GBPUSD eased 0.24% to 1.32032. NZDUSD was the softest major at -0.50%. The exception to dollar strength was the Mexican peso, with USDMXN down 1.04% to 18.224.
Equities and metals
Tech-heavy and Asian benchmarks led the drag. The Nasdaq 100 fell 1.23% to 30,651.16 and the Nikkei 225 dropped 1.19% to 68,187.30, though the latter still sits up 44.5% on the year. The S&P 500 eased 0.28% to 7,807.02. Europe was steadier: the IBEX 35 rose 0.71% to 19,266.37 and the FTSE 100 gained 0.52% to 10,644.71.
Metals offered little shelter. Gold eased 0.45% to 4,171.63 and silver fell 1.05% to 60.28, now down 5.65% on the month. Palladium was the weakest at -1.39% to 1,142.71; platinum was the lone gainer, up 0.13%.
With every crypto name on the board in the red and oil the session’s lone standout bid, the digital-asset complex is the clear weak spot into the open.
