The trading day opens to a split board. Uniswap’s UNIUSD tops the gainers at +1.62% to 7.311 and Polkadot adds 1.35% to 1.129, yet Cardano sits at the bottom, down 1.59% at 0.2171, and Europe’s big equity indices open firmly in the red.
Currencies
The dollar opens firm against the majors. USD/JPY rose 0.44% to 158.49 and USD/CHF added 0.28% to 0.82573, while EUR/USD slipped 0.13% to 1.12093 and GBP/USD eased 0.28% to 1.32959.
The yen was soft across the board, lifting the cross rates: AUD/JPY gained 0.52% to 110.56, NZD/JPY rose 0.55% to 89.75 and CAD/JPY added 0.49% to 112.30. The sharpest single major move was the rand, with USD/ZAR down 0.49% at 16.366, while sterling was heavy everywhere β GBP/SEK off 0.49% and GBP/NZD down 0.43%. The longer lens still favours the dollar in the high-carry pairs, USD/TRY up 18.25% on the year at 49.55.
Crypto
The day’s gains sit in the smaller names. Beyond UNIUSD and Polkadot, Litecoin rose 1.0% to 59.61. Bitcoin itself was flat, down 0.03% at 81,966.05 but still 1.0% higher on the month; Ethereum eased 0.2% to 2,402.08 and is 9.13% lower over the month.
The weakness runs deeper on the longer horizon. Cardano is down 67.24% on the year and Polkadot 63.39%, and most of the complex is lower on the week β XRP off 4.52% at 1.3021 and Stellar down 7.28%.
Stocks and metals
Europe led the losses. The DAX 40 fell 1.45% to 25,203.11, the FTSE 100 dropped 1.43% to 10,713.15 and Spain’s IBEX 35 lost 1.39%, with the Euro Stoxx 50 down 0.95% and the CAC 40 off 1.08%. Tokyo went the other way: the Nikkei 225 climbed 1.21% to 64,733.39, up 30.02% on the year despite a 4.61% weekly fall. US benchmarks held steadier, the S&P 500 flat at 7,697.16 and the Nasdaq 100 up 0.41%.
Metals opened soft. Gold fell 1.06% to 4,140.53 and is down 5.31% on the month; silver eased 0.51% to 57.07, now 13.94% lower over the month. Palladium led the decline at -1.26% to 1,115.03, with platinum off 0.54% to 1,636.42. Crude held firmer, USOil up 0.52% to 98.07 and 4.62% higher on the week.
European equities remain the session’s clear weak spot, and crypto’s green is confined to its smaller names.
