Crypto starts the day broadly red, and the altcoins are doing the damage. GRT dropped -5.81%, Polkadot fell -4.95% and XTZ lost -4.76% — the three steepest declines on the board. The one clearly green corner was metals.

Crypto

The weakness ran deep rather than selective. Bitcoin held up best among the majors at $80,913.94, off just -0.57% on the day and -1.01% on the week, though it still sits -25.56% lower on the year. Ethereum fell -1.69% to $2,358.55, extending a -10.37% month.

Beneath them the losses stacked up across the mid-caps: Bitcoin Cash -3.26% to $265.95, Dogecoin -2.91% and Cardano -2.56%. LNKUSD slid -2.52%, Litecoin -2.30% and Stellar -2.05%. XRP eased -1.91% to $1.267 and Solana slipped -1.83% to $101.38, with BNB down -1.13% to $708.91. UNIUSD was the lone gainer, up +0.66%.

Metals

Platinum and palladium topped the entire board. Platinum rose +1.30% to $1,648.65 and palladium added +1.11% to $1,129.25, though both remain well below where they stood a month ago, at -8.76% and -13.55%. Silver firmed +0.69% to $57.37 but is still -13.40% over the month. Gold edged +0.46% to $4,184.91, holding near flat on the week at +0.34%.

Currencies and indices

The dollar was firm against most majors. EUR/USD slipped -0.47% to 1.11833 and the euro was soft across the crosses — EUR/AUD -0.70%, EUR/CAD -0.64%, EUR/JPY -0.46%. GBP/USD held steadier at 1.33058 (-0.15%), and USD/JPY was effectively unchanged at 158.01. USD/MXN sits +7.14% over the month at 18.453.

Equity indices split by region. The Nikkei 225 led at +0.92% (64,037.07) and the Nasdaq 100 rose +0.85% (29,437.37), though both carry heavy weekly losses of -5.62% and -3.75%. The S&P 500 added +0.51% and the Dow +0.39%. Europe lagged, with the Euro Stoxx 50 -0.54% and the CAC 40 -0.58%, while the FTSE 100 bucked the trend at +0.33% and +2.18% on the week. Crude pulled back, with USOil -1.49% to $97.55 and UKOil -1.50% to $105.95.

Into the open the split is clean: metals bid, crypto broadly offered with the altcoins at the front, and the dollar firm.
