Precious metals were the standout into the US close. Platinum rose 2.38% to 1,691.69 and silver added 2.11% to 60.81 β€” both among the day’s five biggest gainers β€” while gold firmed 1.21% to 4,195.03 and palladium matched it at 1,155.22.

Metals

The move lifted the whole complex off a soft month. Platinum is still down 6.19% over 30 days and silver 5.65%, with gold off 3.53%, so the session clawed back part of recent losses rather than extending a trend.

Over the year the picture is firmer: silver holds a 21.74% gain, platinum 6.38% and gold 4.55%.

Crypto

Cardano topped every instrument on the board, up 4.46% to 0.2532, with UNIUSD close behind at 3.68% to 7.5865. Both carry heavy monthly gains β€” 23.09% and 26.28% β€” against weak weekly reads of -2.35% and -16.41%.

The majors were quieter. Bitcoin edged up 0.52% to 82,978.81 and Ethereum 0.83% to 2,505.71, though both sit lower on the week, down 4.07% and 8.08%.

Stocks and FX

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng led the index board, up 2.09% to 24,346.36 and 1.95% on the week. Wall Street closed higher but calmer β€” the Dow added 0.85% to 51,702.83, the S&P 500 0.54% to 7,815.87 and the Nasdaq 100 0.5% to 30,901.24, the latter two still up 20.12% and 28.68% on the year. Europe edged up alongside, the DAX 40 gaining 0.6% to 25,163.19 and the Euro Stoxx 50 0.58% to 6,187.18. The Nikkei 225’s 0.62% rise leaves it 52.25% higher over twelve months.

In FX, the Turkish lira firmed on both crosses β€” USDTRY fell 0.8% to 48.92 and EURTRY 1.0% to 54.74, the day’s two biggest decliners. The Mexican peso went the other way, USDMXN rising 1.24% to 18.412 and 8.52% over the month. The euro slipped against the Aussie, EURAUD off 0.49%, while the rand firmed, USDZAR down 0.46% to 16.501.

Energy

Crude held its recent bid. USOil rose 0.54% to 90.97 and UKOil 0.36% to 102.70, both deep in the green over the year at 56.69% and 65.47%, though US crude remains 5.92% lower on the month.

The metals complex was the session’s clear green patch, even as its monthly readings stayed in the red.
