Crypto set the pace as the London session wound down. The day’s five biggest gainers were all digital assets, and the risk-on tone carried into European equities and a softer dollar.
Crypto tops the board
XTZ led at +4.66% to $0.2876, with GRT up 4.24% to $0.0246. Dogecoin added 2.64% to $0.0816 and Cardano 2.44% to $0.2229. The majors joined in: Ethereum rose 1.9% to $2,450.31, Bitcoin 1.22% to $82,826.14, Solana 1.48% to $106.43 and Litecoin 1.88% to $60.71. XRP (+2.17%) and Stellar (+2.12%) filled out the gains.
The bounce reads as a single session rather than a turn. Bitcoin is still down 4.35% on the month and Ethereum 11.7%, and the longer picture stays heavy — Cardano is off 65.34% over the year.
European equities firm into the close
Continental benchmarks ran with the risk-on mood. The IBEX 35 led at +1.23% to 19,148.25, ahead of the DAX 40 (+0.96%, 25,462.33), the Euro Stoxx 50 (+0.65%) and the CAC 40 (+0.54%). London’s FTSE 100 trailed but held a 0.39% gain at 10,763.75.
The IBEX remains the regional standout over 12 months, up 21.77% even after a 3.06% monthly slide. In the US, the Dow added 1.04% to 52,602.72 and the S&P 500 0.5% to 7,741. Tokyo’s Nikkei closed +0.71%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was the lone major down, off 0.41%.
Dollar soft, silver extends
The greenback eased across the board. Sterling was the standout, up 0.53% to 1.3379 and 1.14% on the week. The dollar lost 0.49% to the Swedish krona (USDSEK 9.8717) and 0.40% to the rand (16.347). EUR/USD firmed 0.19% to 1.12337, while EUR/GBP slipped 0.37% to 0.83922.
Metals split. Silver rose 1.89% to $57.95 and platinum 1.14% to $1,653.67, extending weekly gains of 3.99% and 3.13%. Gold diverged, easing 0.19% to $4,124.31 and now down 5.59% on the month. Palladium was the session’s biggest loser at -1.15% ($1,102.26).
Crude was the quiet spot: UKOil eased 0.52% to $106.13, though it holds a 10.04% monthly and 72.8% yearly gain, while USOil was flat at $97.98 after a 4.68% week.
