Crypto took the day’s hardest hit. Uniswap’s UNIUSD dropped 10.03% to 7.114, extending a 20.51% slide over the week and leading a broad selloff across the complex.
Crypto
The red ran deep. Tezos (XTZUSD) fell 8.46% to 0.262 and Cardano (ADAUSD) lost 8.44% to 0.2333, with Bitcoin Cash down 6.22% at 281.21. Dogecoin slid 5.52% to 0.0839, Solana gave up 5.46% to 109.81, and BNB fell 5.11% to 731.80.
The majors held comparatively firm. Bitcoin eased 2.0% to 81,597.90 and Ethereum fell 3.85% to 2,473.25, while XRP slipped 3.12% to 1.3753. Several of the hardest-hit names still carry green on the month β ADA is up 10.41% and UNI up 15.57% over 30 days β underscoring how much of today’s drop came off recent highs.
Energy and metals
Crude ran the other way. UKOil climbed 2.76% to 102.33 and USOil added 2.46% to 90.52, the session’s two biggest gainers; both sit far above year-ago levels, up 57.31% and 47.68% respectively.
Metals were mixed. Gold firmed 0.62% to 4,133.96 and palladium rose 1.46% to 1,141.46, while platinum edged up 0.46% to 1,643.45. Silver bucked the group, down 1.0% to 59.17. The longer lens is heavier: palladium is off 15.81% on the month and platinum 13.66%, with silver down 11.94%.
Equities
European boards closed softer. The DAX 40 and Euro Stoxx 50 each fell 0.54%, to 24,990.19 and 6,151.28, and the IBEX 35 eased 0.29% to 19,076.21. The FTSE 100 was the outlier, up 0.51% to 10,526.75.
The weakness traced back to Asia, where the Nikkei 225 dropped 2.34% to 68,207.36 β though it still holds a 40.32% year-on-year gain. On Wall Street, the Nasdaq 100 was off 1.35% at 30,766.34 and the S&P 500 down 0.4%, while the Dow held a 0.14% gain.
Currencies
FX stayed quiet by comparison. The US dollar firmed against the Mexican peso, with USDMXN up 1.06% to 18.165 and up 7.57% on the month, while the rand strengthened as USDZAR fell 0.78%. EURUSD held at 1.12077 and GBPUSD at 1.32222, both little changed on the day though the euro remains down 3.66% over 30 days; USDJPY slipped 0.17% to 157.83.
Into the close, crypto remains the session’s clear weak spot, with every covered coin finishing in the red.
