Silver led the day lower, falling 5.7% to $55.61 and dragging the rest of the precious complex with it. The move extends a 6.63% drop on the week and a 12.62% decline on the month, the clearest trend in Thursday’s data.

Metals

The weakness ran across the board. Platinum fell 3.44% to $1,602.78 and is now down 10.1% on the month. Palladium slipped 2.21% to $1,102.25, leaving it 15.45% lower over the past month β€” the heaviest 30-day loss of any metal here.

Gold held up better in relative terms but still eased 1.23% to $4,103.98, down 4.19% on the month and 2.5% on the year. For a metal that has anchored the safe-haven trade, the softer tone stands out against the broader risk picture.

Equities

The selling spread to US and Asian indices. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 2.05% to 29,913.46, trimming its weekly loss to 2.71% even as it holds a 20.79% gain on the year. The S&P 500 fell 1.11% to 7,715.99, while the Dow was little changed at 51,599.74.

Asia closed soft: the Nikkei 225 fell 2.26% to 66,327.32 and the Hang Seng lost 1.09%. Europe was mixed and quieter β€” the DAX eased 0.21%, the Euro Stoxx 50 fell 0.29%, and the CAC 40 edged up 0.1%. The standout was the FTSE 100, which rose 0.55% to 10,701.29 and is up 1.65% on the week.

Currencies

The dollar firmed across the board, topping the day’s gainers. USD/SEK rose 0.57% to 10.01953 and USD/MXN added 0.56% to 18.474, now up 7.76% on the month. USD/DKK and USD/PLN each gained 0.4%.

The majors leaned the other way. EUR/USD fell 0.44% to 1.11512, extending a 3.33% monthly slide, and GBP/USD dropped 0.58% to 1.31794. USD/JPY was flat at 158.30, holding its 1.95% monthly advance.

Crypto

Digital assets sold off alongside metals. Bitcoin fell 1.57% to $81,782.08, though it remains up 8.21% on the month. Ethereum dropped 3.01% to $2,420.18, and the altcoins led the declines β€” UNIUSD fell 4.58%, GRTUSD lost 3.85%, and Cardano slipped 3.14% to $0.2279.

The damage was concentrated in the last session; several names still carry strong monthly gains, with GRTUSD up 46.2% and XTZUSD up 27.91% despite today’s falls.

Metals were the session’s clear weak spot, with silver’s 5.7% drop setting the tone from the London open through the US afternoon.
