Risk came off through the London session. Crypto led the retreat, with Tezos (XTZUSD) down 7.62%, Polkadot (DOTUSD) and Uniswap (UNIUSD) both 7.6%, while the dollar firmed against every major European currency on the gainer board.
Crypto
The selling was broad and indiscriminate. Tezos (XTZUSD) fell 7.62% to 0.2835, Polkadot (DOTUSD) 7.6% to 1.106 and Uniswap (UNIUSD) 7.6% to 7.907. The Graph (GRTUSD) dropped 6.92% and Stellar (XLMUSD) 6.33% to 0.1983. The majors offered no shelter: Bitcoin (BTCUSD) slipped 2.66% to 83,266.88 and Ethereum (ETHUSD) 4.78% to 2,568.03, while XRP (XRPUSD) shed 5.43% to 1.4146.
Dogecoin (DOGUSD) fell 5.45%, Solana (SOLUSD) 4.05% and Litecoin (LTCUSD) 4.98%. The month still flatters a few of these names β GRTUSD is up 40.1% and XTZUSD 26.85% over 30 days β but the longer lens is bleak. Polkadot sits 73.63% lower on the year and Cardano (ADAUSD) 69.82%.
Currencies
The dollar topped every line of the gainer board. USD/PLN rose 0.66% to 3.90832, USD/CZK 0.54% and USD/DKK 0.49%, with USD/CAD up 0.30% to 1.42551. The euro gave way, EUR/USD down 0.54% to 1.1191 and now 3.75% lower on the month; GBP/USD eased 0.43% to 1.3208.
The yen was the session’s one pocket of strength. EUR/JPY fell 0.69% to 176.91 and GBP/JPY 0.57% to 208.81, with the broad move leaving USD/JPY little changed at 158.06. The commodity currencies drifted lower with the risk tone, AUD/USD off 0.29% to 0.69589 and NZD/USD 0.41% to 0.5598.
Metals and energy
Precious metals tracked the risk-off tone. Platinum (XPTUSD) dropped 4.53% to 1,633.42 and palladium (XPDUSD) 4.41% to 1,125.00, both now more than 10% lower on the month. Silver (XAGUSD) lost 2.5% to 59.78 and gold (XAUUSD) 1.35% to 4,109.93, though gold still holds a 2.45% year-on-year gain. Crude softened too: USOil fell 1.02% to 88.27 and is down 4.02% on the week, while UKOil eased 0.36% to 99.58.
Equities
European indices closed lower across the board. The IBEX 35 (ES35) fell 1.51%, the DAX 40 (DE40) 0.98% and the Euro Stoxx 50 (EU50) 0.97%, while the FTSE 100 (UK100) held up best at a 0.64% decline to 10,469.54. Asia had already set the tone, with the Nikkei 225 (JP225) off 1.51% β still up 44.64% on the year β and the Hang Seng (HK50) down 1.23%. US benchmarks were steadier into the European close: the S&P 500 (US500) eased just 0.38% and the Nasdaq 100 (UT100) 0.27%, both still higher on the week by 1.56% and 1.89%.
The crypto complex remains the session’s clear weak spot, with every covered token finishing the day lower.
