Australia’s Employment Change and Unemployment Rate landed at 00:30 UTC on 15 October, and the Australian dollar barely stirred. The largest move was a slim AUDJPY dip of 0.05%.

Where the Aussie moved

AUDJPY led the move, easing from 109.883 to 109.8245, a fall of 0.05%.

Close behind, GBPAUD firmed from 1.90096 to 1.90192 (+0.05%), leaving the Aussie marginally softer against the pound.

AUDCAD slipped from 0.98867 to 0.98841 (-0.03%), while EURAUD edged up from 1.60859 to 1.60897 (+0.02%) β€” again, a touch weaker for the Aussie.

AUDSGD eased from 0.89318 to 0.89304 (-0.02%). AUDUSD was unchanged, sitting at 0.69592 before and after the release.

What the reaction shows

The response was muted. Every move came in at or below 0.05%, so no single pair carried a decisive reaction to the jobs figures.

What stands out is the direction rather than the scale: the Aussie leaned slightly softer across most crosses β€” against the yen, pound, Canadian dollar, euro and Singapore dollar β€” yet held perfectly flat against the US dollar.

That leaves the reaction spread thinly and evenly, with the one pair traders often watch first, AUDUSD, showing no change at all.
