Oil is the standout as the trading day opens. UKOil climbed 3.72% to $98.64 and USOil rose 3.40% to $92.16, leaving both crude benchmarks more than 14% higher on the month. Nearly everything else starts the session in the red, and the crypto complex is where the selling runs deepest.

Crypto

The smaller tokens took the heaviest hits. Polkadot led all losers at -10.04% to $1.093, with Uniswap (UNIUSD) close behind at -9.70% to $9.24 and Dogecoin down 8.08% to $0.0922. Tezos (XTZUSD) fell 7.66%, Stellar 6.43%, Cardano 6.35% and Chainlink (LNKUSD) 6.00% to $12.258.

The majors held up better in relative terms but still slipped. Bitcoin eased 2.06% to $84,404 and Ethereum 2.85% to $2,674, while Solana lost 3.56% to $114.25, XRP 4.92% to $1.4946 and BNB 2.94% to $764.25, with Litecoin down 2.67% to $61.27. The longer view softens the picture: Uniswap is still up 116.39% on the month and Tezos 50.15%, Bitcoin Cash is 44.20% higher on the week, and Bitcoin itself holds a 10.55% weekly gain.

Currencies

The dollar is firmer across the majors. EUR/USD slipped 0.57% to 1.13816 and GBP/USD 0.78% to 1.32382, while USD/JPY added 0.50% to 158.24 to extend a 1.34% weekly rise. The commodity currencies lagged most, AUD/USD off 1.00% to 0.70397 and NZD/USD down 0.89% to 0.56726.

The dollar’s largest gains came against the emerging-market and Nordic crosses: USD/MXN rose 1.20% to 17.502, USD/PLN 1.12% to 3.84158 and USD/SEK 0.68% to 9.90107, with USD/CAD firmer by 0.27% to 1.4103.

Commodities and equities

The two crude benchmarks lead the day’s gainers and stand well above the rest of the board: UKOil is up 44.09% on the year and USOil 42.47%, even after this week’s pullback of 1.83% and 4.45% respectively. Precious metals moved the other way. Platinum fell 4.68% to $1,760 and silver 4.39% to $64.42, though silver still carries a 46.67% year-on-year gain. Palladium slid 3.82% to $1,261.66, and gold eased 1.75% to $4,287.36, now down 7.89% over the past month.

Equity indices were uniformly softer. The Hang Seng led the declines at -1.67% and the Nikkei 225 fell 1.64% to 66,115 — still up 44.89% on the year — with the DAX 40 and IBEX 35 both down 1.28%. Wall Street held up marginally better, the S&P 500 slipping 0.79% to 7,706.46 and the Nasdaq 100 0.97% to 30,473.84, the latter still 3.63% higher on the week.

The crypto complex remains the session’s clearest weak spot, even with its month-to-date gains still intact.
