The day opens with crypto doing all the running and everything else holding still. Bitcoin Cash rocketed 28.14% to $342.33, a move that also lifts its week to +55.01% and month to +26.46%, even as the coin sits 38.44% lower over the year.

Crypto

The surge did not extend to the large caps. Bitcoin slipped 0.41% to $86,237.68, Ethereum eased 0.92% to $2,749.58, and BNB fell 1.81% to $783.85 β€” though all three still carry double-digit weekly gains, Bitcoin +13.27% and Ethereum +13.82%.

The action sat further down the board. Uniswap jumped 13.74% to $10.2285, extending a startling +136.2% month. GRT added 8.12% to $0.0253, up 43.75% on the month. XRP rose 2.52% to $1.5737 and Cardano 2.45% to $0.2507, each backed by weekly gains above 21%.

Against that, the FX majors barely moved. EUR/USD dipped 0.17% to 1.14438, leaving it down 1.92% on the month. GBP/USD eased 0.22% to 1.33373, off 2.19% over the same span. USD/JPY was effectively flat at 157.41, still up 6.65% on the year.

The standout was the rand: USD/ZAR fell 0.94% to 16.082, a 1.77% weekly drop for the dollar against it. USD/MXN went the other way, up 0.41% to 17.284. The commodity dollars held near unchanged, AUD/USD at 0.71081 and NZD/USD at 0.57219.

Metals and energy

Crude was the session’s clear weak spot. USOil dropped 2.51% to $89.45 and UKOil 1.39% to $95.11, deepening weekly losses of 7.91% and 6.65% respectively β€” a slide that still leaves both up more than 40% on the year.

Metals leaned the other way. Platinum rose 1.10% to $1,841.73 and silver added 0.64% to $67.06, the latter now up 52.62% over twelve months. Gold was the exception, off 0.23% to $4,358.67 and down 6.87% on the month.

Equities open quiet by comparison. The Nasdaq 100 firmed 0.49% to 30,702.71, carrying a 5.34% weekly and 24.82% yearly gain, while the Nikkei 225 rose 0.43% to 67,027.30, up 47.41% on the year. The Dow lagged, down 0.36% to 51,856.34.

Into the new session, crude remains the market’s soft spot after an 8% weekly fall in USOil, while the crypto board stays split β€” Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap sprinting ahead of a flat Bitcoin and Ethereum.
