The UK Claimant Count Change landed at 06:00 UTC on 15 September 2026, and sterling eased modestly across most pairs in the following half hour. GBPCHF led the move lower.
Where the GBP moved
GBPCHF was the biggest mover, slipping 0.18% from 1.10318 to 1.10115 in the 30 minutes since the release.
GBPUSD followed, down 0.11% from 1.34823 to 1.34672.
GBPJPY edged 0.07% lower, from 208.726 to 208.579, while GBPNZD dipped 0.05% from 2.34052 to 2.33935.
EURGBP moved the other way, rising 0.06% from 0.85558 to 0.85609 as the euro firmed against the pound. GBPSEK was essentially flat, easing just 0.003% from 13.18432 to 13.18393.
What the reaction shows
The reaction was mild and broadly consistent: sterling softened against most counterparts, with the sharpest response showing up against the Swiss franc and the US dollar.
Moves elsewhere were smaller, and GBPSEK barely budged, pointing to a contained response overall rather than a sweeping repricing.
The uptick in EURGBP mirrors the softer tone in the dollar and yen crosses, reflecting relative weakness in the pound rather than a large one-way swing. Thirty minutes on, the adjustments remain modest across the board.
