The New Zealand dollar weakened broadly after the RBNZ Press Conference landed at 03:00 UTC on 2 September 2026. Within 30 minutes, NZD/JPY led the reaction lower with a 0.35% slide.

Where the NZD moved

NZD/JPY was the biggest mover, easing 0.35% from 93.892 to 93.566.

NZD/USD followed closely, slipping 0.32% from 0.58587 to 0.58399.

The kiwi lost ground against the euro too, with EUR/NZD climbing 0.29% from 1.97691 to 1.98259. GBP/NZD advanced a similar 0.28%, moving from 2.30551 to 2.31196.

NZD/CAD dropped 0.27% from 0.81488 to 0.81269, while NZD/CHF eased 0.27% from 0.47605 to 0.47478.

What the reaction shows

The move was consistent rather than dramatic, with every kiwi pair pushing in the same direction. Losses clustered in a narrow band between roughly 0.27% and 0.35%, pointing to a broad-based softening of the New Zealand dollar rather than a single-pair story.

NZD/JPY and NZD/USD absorbed the sharpest of the selling, while the crosses against the euro, pound, Canadian dollar and Swiss franc all registered comparable, more modest shifts.

Thirty minutes on, the reaction read as a measured, uniform retreat across the NZD complex.
