The oil advance is the week’s clearest trend. UKOil is up 19.41% on the month and 55.85% on the year, while USOil sits 21.01% higher over the month and 58% higher year-on-year β€” both near the top of their ranges.

Equities

US benchmarks closed softer. The Nasdaq 100 fell 1.25% to 29,001, the session’s weakest major index, with the S&P 500 down 0.57% at 7,613 and the Dow off 0.28% at 52,409.

The deeper drop came from Tokyo. The Nikkei 225 shed 2.61% to 63,001, leaving it down 4.61% on the week and 8.26% on the month, though still 40.97% higher over the year.

Europe leaned the other way. The Euro Stoxx 50 rose 1.02% to 6,319, the IBEX 35 gained 1.13% and the CAC 40 added 0.81%, while the DAX 40 slipped 0.57% and the FTSE 100 eased 0.22%.

Metals

Precious metals were broadly lower. Gold slipped 0.36% to $4,332 and silver fell 0.89% to $63.88, trimming into the close. Palladium was the heaviest loser at -1.28% to $1,288, now down 8.07% on the week, and platinum eased 0.68% to $1,791.

Crypto

Tezos (XTZUSD) topped every board, jumping 10.68% to $0.2653 and stretching its monthly gain to 54.15%. The Graph (GRTUSD) rose 2.78% and Litecoin added 2.03% to $54.72.

The move was far from uniform. Uniswap (UNIUSD) was the day’s biggest decliner at -3.89% to $6.121, down 10.73% on the week despite an 89.07% monthly gain. Bitcoin was near flat, up 0.16% at $77,366, while Ethereum slipped 0.52% to $2,511.84. Both hold sizeable monthly advances of 22.78% and 33.58% respectively.

Currencies

The Scandinavian crosses drove FX. The Swedish krona firmed broadly β€” EURSEK fell 1.12%, GBPSEK dropped 1.19% and USDSEK lost 1.12% to 9.5693 β€” while NOKSEK slid 1.55% to 1.02715.

The majors were quiet by comparison. EURUSD held at 1.15951, GBPUSD eased 0.02% to 1.35204 and USDJPY was unchanged at 153.49. The Turkish lira weakened again, with USDTRY up 0.72% to 48.59.

Heading into the new week, the energy complex remains the session’s momentum, while the Nasdaq and Nikkei sit at the soft end of the tape.
