Crypto led the day’s gainers as European equities sagged into the London close. Cardano rose 3.07% to $0.1981 and Ethereum added 2.6% to $2,479.40, while the platinum-group metals sat at the other end of the board.

Crypto

The majors moved together. Ethereum’s 2.6% gain leaves it up 31.7% on the month, and Bitcoin firmed 1.68% to $78,959.75, now 24.37% higher over 30 days.

XRP climbed 2.18% to $1.3863, trimming a rough week but holding a 27.75% monthly advance. Solana rose 1.96% to $103.68, the standout on longer horizons at up 41.08% over the month.

BNB added 1.02% to $690.50 and Dogecoin gained 1.59%. The clear exception was MATUSD, down 6.55% on the session and 27.8% on the week β€” the single weakest instrument on the feed.

Indices

Continental Europe was in the red. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell 1.09% to 6,408.18, the DAX 40 dropped 0.92% to 26,210.41 and the CAC 40 shed 0.9% to 8,326.32, the latter now down 2.46% on the month.

Wall Street was mixed as London wrapped: the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.77% to 29,460.71 and the S&P 500 added 0.17%, while the Dow slipped 0.33%. Overnight, the Nikkei 225 jumped 1.57% to 65,820.55, up 55.52% on the year.

Metals and energy

The platinum group led the losers. Palladium sank 4.73% to $1,369.41 and platinum fell 2.22% to $1,792.04, paring its monthly gain to 7.72%.

Gold and silver were quieter. Bullion eased 0.23% to $4,448.02 and silver edged up 0.13% to $66.51, though both are lower on the week β€” gold off 4.44% and silver down 3.23%. Silver still carries a 63.62% year-on-year gain.

Crude extended its run. USOil rose 1.81% to $85.51 and UKOil added 1.28% to $90.12, leaving both up more than 6% on the week and around 32% higher over the year.

Currencies

The dollar softened broadly. EUR/USD firmed 0.26% to 1.16154 and USD/CAD fell 0.33% to 1.38532. The Norwegian krone was a mover, with USD/NOK down 0.86% and GBP/NOK off 0.98% to 12.54955.

The rand strengthened as USD/ZAR dropped 0.66% to 16.058, down 2.4% on the month. USD/JPY slipped 0.22% to 159.75, while EUR/GBP ticked up 0.15% to 0.85687.

The platinum-group metals remain the session’s weak spot, with palladium and platinum diverging sharply from a firmer crude and a broadly bid crypto complex.
