Risk appetite drained out of the session’s speculative corners. The heaviest damage sat in crypto, where GRT led all movers with a 15.13% drop to $0.0303 and UNI shed 9.04% to $8.803. Precious metals slid in parallel, and the dollar firmed against most of its peers.
Crypto
The altcoin board did the damage. GRT fell 15.13% to $0.0303, though it still holds a 90.57% gain on the month and is up 20.24% on the week. UNI dropped 9.04% to $8.803, trimming a monthly advance that remains at 71.70%. Polkadot lost 7.67% to $1.167 and Bitcoin Cash gave up 7.44% to $307.39, the latter now down 10.76% across the week.
Not everything sold. LNK topped the tape with an 8.62% jump to $15.224, extending a 36.70% monthly run, and Stellar added 5.03% to $0.22623. The majors were quieter: Bitcoin eased 1.21% to $83,422.26 and Ethereum barely moved, off 0.26% at $2,680.62.
Metals
The metals complex fell as one. Silver dropped 4.84% to $60.63, deepening its weekly loss to 10.02%, while gold slid 3.43% to $4,114.46 and is now down 5.72% on the week. Palladium fell 2.84% to $1,220.62 β a 15.08% slide over the month β and platinum eased 2.52% to $1,723.54. Gold and silver both hold year-to-date gains, silver up 29.54%.
Currencies and indices
The dollar carried a firm tone. The peso was the standout, with USD/MXN up 1.36% to 17.982 and 3.97% higher on the week. USD/CHF added 0.24% to 0.83139 and USD/SEK held a 1.09% weekly gain. EUR/USD eased 0.08% to 1.13661 and GBP/USD firmed 0.21% to 1.32529.
Equities leaned lower into the US afternoon. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.97% to 30,271.70 and the S&P 500 lost 0.51% to 7,683.31. Europe was flatter by comparison β the DAX added 0.09% and the CAC 40 0.02% β while the Hang Seng closed 0.66% higher. The Nikkei 225 slipped 0.92% to 65,877.59 but still holds a 46.19% gain on the year.
Crude was the session’s outlier. UKOil held $98.15 and USOil $91.95, both up more than 3% on the week and better than 9% on the month. With metals and altcoins broadly lower, energy remains the corner still bid.
