The US ISM Manufacturing PMI is the dollar-focused data point of the session, scheduled for release at 14:00 UTC on 1 September. As a timely gauge of factory-sector activity, it draws attention across USD-linked markets.

What the ISM Manufacturing PMI measures

The ISM Manufacturing PMI is a monthly survey of purchasing managers at US factories, covering areas such as new orders, production, employment, supplier deliveries and inventories. A reading above 50 signals expansion in the manufacturing sector, while a figure below 50 points to contraction.

Markets watch it closely because it arrives early in the monthly data cycle, offering one of the first reads on how the manufacturing economy is faring. The forecast stands at 55.2, compared with a previous reading of 55.6. Both figures sit above the 50 threshold, and the survey’s sub-indices are often parsed for detail on demand and price pressures.
