The European Central Bank’s Main Refinancing Rate decision and Monetary Policy Statement landed at 12:15 UTC on 10 September 2026. In the 135 minutes since, the euro firmed across most crosses, led higher against the New Zealand dollar.

Where the EUR moved

The standout move was EURNZD, which climbed 0.406% from 1.99383 to 2.00192, pushing back above the 2.00 handle.

EURNOK followed with a 0.284% rise, moving from 10.75793 to 10.78845. EURSEK added 0.207%, advancing from 11.20284 to 11.22599.

The gains were smaller elsewhere. EURCAD edged up 0.102% from 1.60452 to 1.60615, while EURTRY ticked 0.073% higher from 56.46689 to 56.50832.

The lone decliner was EURJPY, which slipped 0.096% from 179.2275 to 179.0555 as the yen held its ground against the single currency.

What the reaction shows

The euro’s response concentrated in the smaller and commodity-linked crosses, with EURNZD, EURNOK and EURSEK posting the widest swings. That skew left the broad move on the firmer side of neutral.

Against the yen the picture was flat to marginally softer, the only cross to register a decline. Taken together, the reaction was modest in scale rather than dramatic, with no single move exceeding half a percent across the board.
