Australia’s GDP q/q release landed at 01:30 UTC, and the Australian dollar ticked higher across the board. The standout mover was AUD/CHF, which led a broadly modest firming in the currency.
Where the AUD moved
AUD/CHF posted the largest reaction, rising 0.13% from 0.58055 to 0.58132.
AUD/SGD followed with a 0.07% gain, moving from 0.90992 to 0.91058.
EUR/AUD slipped 0.07%, easing from 1.62062 to 1.61945 as the Aussie firmed against the euro.
AUD/USD edged up 0.05%, from 0.71458 to 0.71495. AUD/CAD added 0.02% to 0.99375, while AUD/JPY was near flat, inching from 114.613 to 114.637.
What the reaction shows
The overall reaction was modest, with every move well under a quarter of a percent. The Australian dollar firmed uniformly against its counterparts, but the scale was small.
The strongest response came against the Swiss franc and Singapore dollar, while moves against the yen and Canadian dollar were barely perceptible. The consistent, if slight, direction points to a mild bid for the Aussie rather than any sharp repricing.
