Australia’s inflation figures β CPI m/m, CPI y/y and the Trimmed Mean CPI m/m β landed at 01:30 UTC on 30 September 2026, and the Australian dollar eased against every counterpart on our feed. AUDJPY led the reaction, slipping 0.53% from 109.68 to 109.10.
Where the Aussie moved
AUDJPY set the pace, down 0.53% from 109.6785 to 109.0990. The franc cross followed closely: AUDCHF fell 0.51%, from 0.5834 to 0.5804.
AUDSGD eased 0.44%, moving from 0.8937 to 0.8898, and AUDCAD softened 0.42%, from 0.9924 to 0.9883. AUDUSD shed 0.39%, slipping from 0.6990 to 0.6963.
The pound gained ground on the Aussie, with GBPAUD rising 0.37% from 1.8931 to 1.9000 β the mirror image of the same AUD weakness.
What the reaction shows
The move was broad but remarkably even. Every Australian dollar pair on our feed fell within a tight 0.39% to 0.53% band, with no single cross breaking away from the pack. The yen and franc crosses sat at the wide end, the US dollar pair at the narrow end, and the spread between them stayed slim.
That uniformity points to a currency-wide repricing rather than a reaction driven by any one counterpart. The scale was modest, and the direction was consistent: lower, across the board, immediately after the release.
