Australia’s Employment Change and Unemployment Rate figures landed at 01:30 UTC on 24 September, and the Australian dollar eased against every major peer in the minutes that followed. The widest move was in AUDCHF, which slipped from 0.58046 to 0.57968.
Where the Australian dollar moved
AUDCHF led the reaction lower, down 0.13% as it moved from 0.58046 to 0.57968.
The euro strengthened against the Aussie in a near-mirror move: EURAUD rose 0.13%, climbing from 1.61722 to 1.61935.
AUDUSD softened 0.13%, easing from 0.70360 to 0.70271, while AUDJPY fell 0.12% from 111.104 to 110.975.
The regional and commodity-bloc crosses moved least. AUDCAD dipped 0.11% from 0.99238 to 0.99127, and AUDSGD shed 0.11% from 0.90091 to 0.89996.
What the reaction shows
The response was uniform in direction but modest in size. Every AUD pair drifted lower β or, for EURAUD, higher against the Aussie β and each shift sat within a tight 0.11%β0.13% band.
That clustering points to a broad, currency-wide reaction rather than one driven by any single counterpart. The Swiss franc and the euro sat at the firmer end, while the Canadian and Singapore dollars sat at the softer end. With no outsized single-pair swing, the post-release move reads as a small, even repricing of the Australian dollar rather than a sharp one.
