Crude is the standout as the session opens. USOil sits at $82.26, up 1.19% on the day and 10.92% over the past week; UKOil trades at $87.47, up 0.98% and a matching 11.25% on the week. Both grades are now roughly a third higher on the year.

Energy and crypto lead

The day’s biggest covered movers cluster in crypto and energy. Dogecoin jumped 3.17% to $0.0716, and BNB added 2.24% to $611.43, extending its monthly gain to 7.96%.

Bitcoin was quieter, easing 0.47% to $63,607 β€” down 1.52% on the week but still 2.18% higher on the month, and 47% lower on the year. Ethereum ticked up 0.41% to $1,878.78. XRP rose 0.64% to $1.0171 despite a 4.1% weekly drop.

The downside was concentrated in smaller names. Cardano fell 2.15% to $0.1863, though it remains up 18.66% over the month. Solana was little changed at $75.99.

Currencies

Majors are subdued. EUR/USD holds at 1.15366, down 0.08% on the day and 0.17% on the week. GBP/USD sits at 1.35026, roughly flat on the day but up 1.15% on the month. USD/JPY trades at 159.25, up 0.06% but down 1.95% over the past month.

The oil bid is showing in the commodity currencies. USD/NOK is at 9.47932, down 3.04% on the month, while USD/CAD trades at 1.39241, off 1.59% on the month. USD/MXN fell 0.43% to 17.056 and is down 8.2% on the year, with USD/ZAR at 16.15, off 1.88% on the month.

Metals ease

Precious metals pulled back. Silver dropped 1.76% to $64.66, though it remains up 12.27% on the month and 70.56% on the year. Gold slipped 0.77% to $4,368.26, still 9.19% higher on the month and 30.37% on the year. Platinum eased 0.66% to $1,746.27.

Equities mixed

Asia set the tone in opposite directions. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.9% to 67,118, up 55.37% on the year, while the Hang Seng fell 1.54% to 25,558. European benchmarks opened firmer, with the DAX at 26,386 (+0.29%) and the IBEX 35 at 20,202 (+0.35%, up 35.84% on the year).

US futures point lower: the S&P 500 is at 7,730 (-0.22%), the Dow at 53,792 (-0.24%), and the Nasdaq 100 at 29,538 (-0.18%).

The week’s clearest story remains crude’s double-digit run, with the oil-linked krone and Canadian dollar the FX names tracking it most closely.
