Precious metals stole the session. Gold rose 4.23% to $4,244.77 and silver climbed 4.33% to $61.99, with both metals now posting mid-single-digit weekly gains. Palladium added 1.96% and platinum edged up 0.18%, rounding out a broadly firm complex.
Metals
Gold’s move puts it 3.94% higher on the month and back into positive territory on the year (+2.0%). Silver is the stronger performer over longer windows, up 19.34% on the year. The kilo-quoted silver contract logged a 4.68% session gain, the single biggest move on the board.
The strength coincided with a softer dollar across most pairs.
Currencies
The greenback slipped broadly. USD/NOK fell 0.60% and USD/ZAR dropped 0.60%, while USD/CAD eased 0.39% to 1.4011 and USD/SEK lost 0.48%.
EUR/USD firmed 0.16% to 1.15503 and GBP/USD held at 1.34571. The yen was little changed on the day, with USD/JPY flat at 157.72, though it has firmed 1.54% over the week.
Crypto
Crypto was a two-way market. AXS led the gainers, up 5.49%, and UNI added 5.0%, while Ethereum rose 2.23% to $1,909.38. Bitcoin was steadier at $64,631, up 0.91%.
The soft spots sat among the smaller alts: Polkadot fell 1.52%, Cardano lost 1.45% and Stellar dropped 1.34%. Cardano and Polkadot still carry double-digit weekly gains despite the pullback.
Elsewhere
European and US index futures leaned lower. The DAX slipped 0.67% and the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.80%, while the Dow held a 0.38% gain. The Hang Seng was the weakest index, down 0.97%.
Oil was quiet after a rough week β USOil sits at $74.34, still down 10.23% over five sessions.
The metals rally remains the clearest theme heading into the session.
