Crude sits at the top of the covered board this morning. Brent (UKOil) added 2.25% to $83.14 and WTI (USOil) rose 2.14% to $78.02, both extending a firm month β up 8.66% and 8.32% respectively over 30 days.
Energy and metals
The oil bid stands out against a quiet metals tape. Gold slipped 0.18% to $4,333.40 but remains 6.9% higher on the week. Silver was flat on the session at $63.54, holding a 9.08% weekly gain and a 66.44% rise over the year.
Platinum eased 0.33% to $1,743.95, still up 6.73% on the week. Palladium was the metals laggard, down 0.94% to $1,370.70 despite an 8.25% weekly advance.
Crypto
Solana led the majors, up 1.81% to $77.27 and 5.22% higher on the week. BNB rose 1.29% to $607.24, extending a 5.9% monthly gain.
Bitcoin was steadier, up 0.29% to $65,089 and 2.07% higher on the month. Ethereum added 0.38% to $1,922.48, up 7.62% over 30 days. XRP gained 0.48% to $1.043 but remains 2.91% lower on the week, while Cardano dipped 0.3% to $0.1984 even as it carries a 20.02% monthly rise. Dogecoin edged up 0.28% to $0.0704.
Currencies
The majors barely moved overnight. EUR/USD held at 1.15585 and GBP/USD at 1.3492, both little changed on the day but firmer on the week. USD/JPY eased 0.06% to 157.69, down 2.47% over the month.
The clearer moves were in the crosses tied to a softer dollar. USD/NOK fell 0.32% to 9.4652, down 3.22% on the month, and USD/SEK slipped 0.19% to 9.4424. USD/ZAR dropped 0.35% to 16.048, extending a 2.85% weekly decline, while USD/MXN fell 0.18% to 17.101.
Indices
Europe opened on the front foot. The Euro Stoxx 50 rose 0.46% to 6,530.68 and the CAC 40 added 0.23% to 8,722.16, both up over 4% on the month. The DAX slipped 0.09% to 26,329 and the IBEX eased 0.13%.
Asia was mixed: the Hang Seng jumped 1.04% to 25,812.66, up 6.54% on the month, while the Nikkei 225 dipped 0.11% to 66,176.80 β still 56.55% higher on the year.
Wall Street benchmarks closed narrowly lower. The S&P 500 fell 0.13% to 7,743.33 and the Dow slipped 0.24%, though the Nasdaq 100 held flat at 29,717 and carries a 2.99% weekly gain.
Crude remains the session’s standout mover, with both benchmarks up more than 2%.
