Crypto ran hard while US equities went the other way. XRP led the day’s board with a 14.38% jump to $1.2637, extending a 26.64% weekly gain, as the Dow shed 1.32% into the close.

Crypto

XRP was the standout, but the strength was broad. Dogecoin rose 7.09% to $0.0801, Cardano added 5.36% to $0.1967, and Polkadot climbed 6.48%.

The majors joined in. Bitcoin gained 4.88% to $72,677 and is up 15.4% on the week. Ethereum added 2.91% to $2,316 β€” a more modest session move, but its 23.22% weekly run is the largest among the covered coins. BNB rose 4.19% to $652.68 and Solana firmed 2.63% to $87.53.

The year-on-year picture stays deep in the red: XRP is down 55.68% over 12 months, Cardano down 76.9%.

Indices

US benchmarks made up the entire losers list. The Dow fell 1.32% to 52,784, the Nasdaq 100 dropped 1.08% to 29,217, and the S&P 500 slipped 0.94% to 7,646. All three carry weekly losses, with the Nasdaq 100 off 2.76% on the week.

Europe closed softer too. The DAX 40 lost 0.56% to 25,976 and the CAC 40 fell 0.51%, while the Euro Stoxx 50 eased 0.31%. The Nikkei 225 was the weakest major over the week, down 4.63%, though it still holds a 53.52% year-on-year gain.

Commodities and metals

Oil pushed higher. US crude rose 2.31% to $86.12 and Brent added 1.78% to $91.47, both up more than 5% on the week.

Metals were quieter. Silver gained 1.67% to $68.07, extending a 14% monthly advance, while platinum rose 0.71% to $1,833. Gold barely moved, up 0.16% to $4,519, but sits 9.34% higher on the month.

FX

Currencies were muted next to the crypto and equity swings. EUR/USD was flat at 1.16751 and GBP/USD edged up 0.19% to 1.36245. USD/JPY rose 0.5% to 159.04, and GBP/JPY added 0.71% to 216.75.

The US indices remain the session’s clear weak spot, with all three majors finishing lower on both the day and the week.
