US benchmarks finished the session broadly higher, with gains stacking up across the major indices as several crypto names and precious metals moved the other way.

Indices

The Dow Jones 30 led the majors, up 1.08% to 53,246. The S&P 500 rose 1.07% to 7,603 and the Nasdaq 100 added 1.10% to 28,802, though the tech gauge remains down 3.09% on the month.

Europe closed firmer ahead of the US bell. The Euro Stoxx 50 gained 1.11%, the IBEX 35 rose 1.03% and the DAX 40 added 0.97%. The FTSE 100 was the outlier, easing 0.29%, and the Nikkei 225 slipped 0.50%.

Crypto

Uniswap was the day’s sharpest mover, dropping 6.27% to 3.9065. That contrasted with strength further down the board: Polkadot rose 3.14% and Tezos gained 3.10%.

Cardano added 2.43% and is now up 19.85% on the week. The majors were quieter β€” Bitcoin edged up 0.27% to 63,660, while Ethereum eased 0.94% to 1,865.

Metals and FX

Precious metals leaned lower. Palladium fell 2.14% and platinum dropped 1.92% to 1,631. Gold slipped 0.48% to 4,055 and silver eased 0.21%.

The dollar was mixed. USD/JPY dipped 0.25% to 157.19 but is down 4.07% on the week, its steepest stretch on the board. EUR/USD softened 0.30% to 1.15065 and GBP/USD lost 0.48%. The Swedish krona was the day’s weakest G10 currency against the dollar, with USD/SEK up 0.40%.

Crude drifted lower into the close β€” USOil down 0.85% to 78.76 and UKOil off 0.47%, though both hold gains of roughly 8% on the month.

Into the next session, precious metals remain the clearest laggard, with palladium and platinum both finishing more than 1.9% lower.
