A subdued end to the US session. Moves were small across the board, with equities inching higher and no single asset class staging a decisive break.

Indices

The Nikkei 225 was the standout, up 0.41% to 68,952.98 and now 3.66% higher on the week β€” a run that leaves it 58.67% up over the year.

Wall Street closed firmer but quiet. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.25% to 30,120.14, the S&P 500 rose 0.14% to 7,791.62, and the Dow Jones 30 edged up 0.08% to 53,744.95. The Nasdaq leads the week, up 1.79%.

Europe was mixed. The DAX 40 ticked up 0.14% to 26,484.46, while the Euro Stoxx 50 slipped 0.29% and the CAC 40 fell 0.27%, the latter down 0.99% on the week. The IBEX 35 eased 0.40% but still sits 31.71% higher year-on-year.

Metals

Gold slipped 0.12% to 4,370.47, trimming its weekly loss to 0.72% while holding an 8.76% monthly gain. Silver firmed 0.24% to 64.82, up 15.95% over the month and 71.25% on the year.

Platinum added 0.22% to 1,755.55, and palladium led the metals with a 0.70% gain to 1,324.30, though it remains 4.52% lower on the week.

Currencies

The dollar was broadly soft but contained. USD/MXN fell 0.31% to 16.966 and USD/ZAR dropped 0.27% to 16.13, extending monthly declines of 3.21% and 1.89%. USD/JPY held at 159.34, up 0.02% on the day but down 1.88% over the month.

EUR/USD was little changed at 1.15624, and GBP/USD held 1.35327. NOK/SEK was the biggest FX mover, down 0.86% to 0.99845.

Crypto

Crypto drifted lower. Bitcoin eased 0.11% to 62,946.63, Ethereum slipped 0.14% to 1,877.73, and XRP fell 0.40% to 0.997. BNB was the notable laggard among the majors, down 0.52% to 603.41.

Among the smaller names, XTZ led decliners with a 1.80% fall and GRT dropped 1.50%, both deep in the red over the month. Dogecoin bucked the trend, up 0.29% to 0.0695.

With the day’s ranges tight, the Nikkei’s continued climb and the softer dollar against the peso and rand remain the session’s clearest threads.
