Tech carried Wall Street into the close. The Nasdaq 100 rose 1.29% to 29,587.88, outpacing the S&P 500’s 0.64% gain to 7,725.33 and the Dow’s 0.21% to 53,657.37.

The day’s broader move was a firmer dollar, which weighed on gold and the commodity currencies.

Indices

The Nasdaq 100 led US benchmarks and now sits up 5.85% on the month and 26.19% on the year. The S&P 500 is 3.55% higher over the month.

Europe was quieter. The DAX 40 added 0.22% to 26,310.85 and the Euro Stoxx 50 was flat at 6,466.18, while the FTSE 100 slipped 0.31% to 10,854.51. The Nikkei 225 stood out earlier, up 0.77% to 66,147.85 and 56.25% higher over the past year.

Currencies

The dollar firmed across the board. USDSEK rose 0.89% to 9.52603 and USDNOK gained 0.73% to 9.34694, while USDCHF added 0.54% to 0.8051. USDZAR climbed 0.52% to 15.946.

The majors gave ground: EURUSD eased 0.20% to 1.16507 and GBPUSD fell 0.44% to 1.3585. The commodity bloc was heaviest, with NZDUSD down 0.59% to 0.59386 and AUDUSD barely changed at 0.71698. USDJPY held near flat at 159.25, though it remains down 2.81% on the month.

Metals

Gold snapped its recent grind, sliding 0.76% to 4,623.91 β€” one of the day’s larger declines among covered instruments, though still up 14.88% on the month and 36.17% on the year.

Silver bucked the move, adding 0.35% to 68.96 and holding a 20.52% monthly gain and 78.65% over twelve months. Platinum eased 0.57% to 1,847.96.

Crypto

Ethereum was the standout among the majors, up 2.23% to 2,496.62 and 30.07% higher over the month. Solana added 1.09% to 97.58 and BNB rose 1.21% to 701.55.

Bitcoin was steadier, up 0.25% to 78,714.28, keeping a 23.3% monthly gain. XRP was the laggard, off 0.73% to 1.42285 despite a 33.35% month.

Outside the covered set, the tape was wild: Tezos jumped 15.51% while Polygon’s token dropped 13.77% in a single session.

With gold retreating and the dollar broadly bid, the metals complex and the antipodean currencies were the session’s soft spots against a firm US tech close.
