Precious metals dominated the New York session. Gold climbed 4.23% to $4,244.77 and silver added 4.33% to $61.99, with the two metals sitting at the top of the day’s gainers board alongside a firm palladium.

The move stood out against a mixed-to-softer equity tape and a broadly easier dollar.

Metals

Gold’s jump lifts it 3.38% on the week and 3.94% on the month. Silver’s rally was even sharper on shorter horizons, up 4.98% over the week and 19.34% on the year.

Palladium rose 1.96% to $1,377.78, while platinum was near flat on the day at $1,739.61 but holds a 7.99% monthly gain. The bid ran across the complex.

Currencies

The dollar leaked lower against most crosses. USDNOK fell 0.60%, USDZAR dropped 0.60%, and USDSEK slipped 0.48%. USDCAD eased 0.39% to 1.4011.

EURUSD ticked up 0.16% to 1.15503 and GBPUSD was little changed at 1.34571. USDJPY was effectively flat at 157.72, though the yen firmed on the week, with EURJPY and GBPJPY both down more than 1.2% over five sessions.

Equities & Crypto

US indices split. The Dow added 0.38% to 54,413.24, while the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.80% and the S&P 500 dipped 0.23%. Europe was heavier, with the DAX off 0.67% and the Hang Seng the day’s weakest major index at -0.97%.

Crypto was choppy. Ethereum rose 2.23% to $1,909.38 and Bitcoin added 0.91% to $64,631. Smaller tokens led the moves in both directions: UNIUSD and AXSUSD jumped around 5%, while Polkadot, Cardano and Stellar each shed more than 1.3%.

Crude firmed slightly on the day but remains the week’s soft spot, with USOil down 10.23% and UKOil off 9.15% over five sessions. The metals bid remains the session’s clearest theme.
