Energy led the tape into the US close. Both crude benchmarks staged a sharp rebound, with UKOil up 4.92% to $82.49 and USOil gaining 4.49% to $77.48 β even as both remain down more than 7% on the week.
Energy and commodities
The crude bounce was the clearest theme of the session, clawing back part of a rough week. On a longer view, USOil is still up nearly 33% over the year and UKOil more than 30%.
Precious metals went the other way. Gold slipped 0.89% to $4,239.98 and silver fell 1.12% to $61.50, though both hold firm weekly gains of roughly 5% and 7%. Platinum eased 1.41% while palladium was essentially flat.
Crypto
Cardano was the day’s standout gainer, rallying 6.4% to $0.2029 and extending a 26.6% monthly climb. The rest of the space was split.
Bitcoin drifted 0.29% lower to $64,404 and Ethereum was flat at $1,905.96. The losers’ board was crypto-heavy: GRT dropped 2.72%, XRP fell 2.59% to $1.0331, Stellar shed 2.07%, and Solana lost 1.5%.
Equities and FX
US indices closed lower. The Dow led the decline, off 1.13% to 53,834.74, with the S&P 500 down 0.40% and the Nasdaq 100 off 0.29% β all still positive on the week. European boards were mixed, the CAC 40 up 0.35% while the DAX slipped 0.31%.
The dollar firmed broadly. USDCHF rose 0.65% and USDJPY added 0.52% to 158.43, while EURUSD eased 0.32% to 1.15187 and GBPUSD dipped to 1.34506.
The crude rebound remains the session’s defining move against an otherwise softer risk backdrop into the close.
