Crude did the heavy lifting into the close. US crude added 1.19% to 82.26 and UK crude rose 0.98% to 87.47, capping weekly gains of 10.92% and 11.25% respectively.
Energy and metals
Both grades sit well above their longer-run marks, up 31.32% and 32.76% on the year. The month-on-month picture is more modest, at 3.63% and 4.52%.
Metals leaned the other way. Silver fell 1.76% to 64.66 and gold slipped 0.77% to 4,368.26, trimming a session that still leaves both firmly higher over longer windows.
Silver holds a 12.27% monthly gain and a 70.56% advance on the year; gold is up 9.19% and 30.37% over the same horizons. Platinum eased 0.66% to 1,746.27, keeping an 8.94% monthly gain.
Crypto
The day’s biggest mover in the covered set was Dogecoin, up 3.17% to 0.0716, though it remains down 69.64% on the year. BNB rose 2.24% to 611.43, extending a 7.96% monthly gain.
The majors were quieter. Bitcoin dipped 0.47% to 63,607.36 but holds a 2.18% monthly gain, while Ethereum edged up 0.41% to 1,878.78, up 5.9% over the month.
Cardano was the notable drag among covered names, off 2.15% to 0.1863; its 18.66% monthly rise still stands against a 77.85% yearly decline. XRP added 0.64% to 1.0171, and Solana was near flat at 75.99.
Indices and FX
Wall Street closed softer. The S&P 500 fell 0.22% to 7,730.16, the Dow dropped 0.24% to 53,792.28, and the Nasdaq 100 slipped 0.18% to 29,538.92. The Dow is down 1.2% on the week.
Asia split. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.9% to 67,118.30, up 55.37% on the year, while the Hang Seng was the session’s weakest major index, down 1.54% to 25,558.56.
Europe firmed. The DAX rose 0.29% to 26,386.49 and the IBEX 35 gained 0.35% to 20,202.50, the latter up 35.84% on the year. The FTSE 100 dipped 0.25%.
In currencies the dollar was mixed and mostly quiet. USDMXN fell 0.43% to 17.056 and USDZAR eased 0.19% to 16.15, while USDSEK bucked the trend, up 0.28% to 9.51495.
EUR/USD slipped 0.08% to 1.15366 and GBP/USD eased 0.05% to 1.35026. USD/JPY held near 159.25, with the yen crosses firmer on the week β GBP/JPY up 1.3% and CAD/JPY up 1.65%.
The crude run remains the clearest thread through the session, with both benchmarks holding double-digit weekly gains.
