Crypto ran hot while equities leaked red. XRP led the day with a 14.38% surge to $1.2637, extending its weekly gain to 26.64%. The rally was broad across the token space even as US index futures pointed lower into the close.
Crypto
XRP was the standout, but the strength was wide. Dogecoin added 7.09% to $0.0801 and Cardano rose 5.36% to $0.1967. Bitcoin climbed 4.88% to $72,677, up 15.4% on the week, and BNB gained 4.19% to $652.68.
Ethereum lagged the majors with a 2.91% move to $2,316.69, though its weekly run of 23.22% remains the strongest of the large caps. Solana rose 2.63% to $87.53. Despite the bounce, the sector’s one-year picture stays deep in the red β XRP is still down 55.68% over 12 months and Cardano down 76.9%.
Indices
Equities moved the other way. The Dow Jones led the losers at -1.32% to 52,784.81, with the Nasdaq 100 off 1.08% to 29,217.80 and the S&P 500 down 0.94% to 7,646.83. The Nasdaq has shed 2.76% on the week.
Europe closed softer too. The DAX fell 0.56% to 25,976.08 and the CAC 40 dropped 0.51% to 8,453.04, both extending weekly declines near 2%. The FTSE 100 held up better, down just 0.13% to 10,738.59. In Asia the Nikkei 225 slipped 0.83% to 65,491.25, leaving it 4.63% lower on the week even as it holds a 53.52% year-on-year gain.
Commodities and metals
Crude was firm. USOil rose 2.31% to $86.12 and UKOil added 1.78% to $91.47, both up more than 5% on the week. Oil’s one-year gains sit above 35% for each contract.
Metals edged higher. Silver rose 1.67% to $68.07 and platinum gained 0.71% to $1,833.48, up 14% and 11.9% respectively over the past month. Gold was quieter, up 0.16% to $4,519.24, holding a 9.34% monthly advance.
Currencies
FX stayed contained. The dollar firmed against the yen, with USDJPY up 0.5% to 159.04, while EURUSD was flat at 1.16751 and GBPUSD added 0.19% to 1.36245. Sterling crosses were among the more active, GBPJPY rising 0.71% to 216.75.
The US indices remain the session’s clear weak spot as the crypto complex runs in the opposite direction.
