Precious metals were the clear drag into the London close. Palladium sank 4.17% to 1,313.04 and platinum lost 2.31% to 1,716.78, dragging the wider complex lower even as US equities firmed.

Metals

Gold slipped 1.46% to 4,349.69 and silver fell 1.32% to 64.42, both giving back part of a strong run β€” gold still holds a 7.19% month and 30.4% year, while silver is up 11.53% on the month and 69.53% over 12 months.

Platinum’s 2.31% drop leaves it down 1.89% on the week, and palladium’s slide extends a 5.11% weekly fall. The pullback in metals stands against a broadly steady dollar.

The Nasdaq 100 led the gainers, up 1.37% to 30,105.43, with the S&P 500 adding 0.72% to 7,802.66. The Nikkei 225 closed 1.12% higher at 69,108.37, now up 4.31% on the week and 61.55% on the year.

The metals unwind remains the session’s standout, even as the Nasdaq and Nikkei set the pace on the equity side.
