Ethereum stole the session, climbing 19.53% to $2,290.36 as a broad crypto rally ran alongside a softer dollar and another leg higher in metals.

Crypto

Ethereum’s move led the day’s biggest gainers, and it wasn’t alone. Solana rose 12.55% to $86.61, XRP added 12.19% to $1.1226, and Stellar climbed 11.21%.

Bitcoin gained 7.69% to $69,651.64, up 9.81% on the week. Cardano jumped 9.65% and Dogecoin 8.43%, while BNB rose 4.35% to $628.97.

The longer view stays heavy: Ethereum is still down 47.19% on the year and Cardano off 78.32%, even after ETH’s 21.57% weekly and 18.78% monthly climbs.

Currencies

The franc was the standout on the majors board. USD/CHF fell 1.88% to 0.7969, its worst among the day’s losers, with GBP/CHF down 1.32% and CAD/CHF off 1.24%.

The dollar softened widely. EUR/USD rose 0.85% to 1.16736, GBP/USD added 0.51% to 1.36039, and NZD/USD gained 0.95% to 0.59276. USD/JPY dropped 0.91% to 158.09, now down 3.12% on the month.

USD/ZAR fell 1.26% to 16.042 and USD/SEK slid 1.18%, extending a run that has the dollar down 2.93% versus the krona this month. USD/NOK lost 0.95% to 9.31526.

Metals

The precious complex pushed higher again. Platinum rose 6.64% to $1,824.52 and silver gained 6.43% to $66.97, the latter up 76.71% over the past year.

Gold added 4.4% to $4,523.43, extending a 10.85% monthly advance, while palladium climbed 4.35% to $1,340.87.

Indices and energy

Europe closed on the back foot. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell 0.58% to 6,438.58, the IBEX 35 dropped 0.5%, and both the DAX and CAC eased around 0.2%. The FTSE 100 bucked the trend, up 0.21% to 10,744.69.

Wall Street held modest gains into the European close, with the S&P 500 up 0.26%, the Dow up 0.23% and the Nasdaq 100 flat at 29,460.61. In Asia, the Hang Seng rose 1.27% while the Nikkei 225 sits 4.42% lower on the week despite a 0.34% session gain.

Crude was steady: Brent held at $89.88 and WTI at $84.37, both up close to 5% over the week.

As London winds down, the franc remains the firmest of the majors and crypto the clear leader of the day’s tape.
