Crude was the whole story into the London close. Brent (UKOil) fell 6.71% to $83.00 and WTI (USOil) dropped 6.58% to $79.46, dwarfing every other move on the board.
The slide unwinds part of the month’s advance rather than the year’s: both grades still sit well above where they started the year, with WTI up 36.86% over twelve months.

The near-7% single-session drop puts both benchmarks at the bottom of the day’s leaderboard. On a weekly view the losses are smaller β Brent off 2.28%, WTI off 2.24% β a reminder that the bulk of today’s move came in one session.

Against that, digital assets carried a firm bid. Cardano led the entire market, up 8.45% to $0.1887 and now 16.84% higher on both the week and the month.
The strength was broad. GRT and Chainlink each added 3.57%, Bitcoin Cash rose 2.84%, and BNB gained 2.56% to $588.67. Bitcoin itself lagged the pack with a 1.18% rise to $63,491, while Ethereum added 2.27%.
Currencies & Indices
FX was quiet by comparison. The rand was the standout, with USDZAR down 0.51% to 16.433. EURUSD edged up 0.13% to 1.15444 and the yen firmed modestly, USDJPY slipping to 157.50 and extending a 3.83% weekly decline.
European equities closed higher. The DAX added 0.51% to 25,838, the CAC rose 0.33% and the FTSE 100 gained 0.33% to 10,905. Wall Street was firmer still into the European handover, with the Nasdaq 100 up 1.13%. Hong Kong was the exception, the Hang Seng easing 0.40%.
Metals ticked up across the board, gold at $4,074.88 (+0.77%) and silver at $58.31 (+1.27%).
Into the New York afternoon, crude remains the session’s clear outlier.
