Crude did the heavy lifting into the London close. Brent (UKOil) added 2.25% to $83.14 and WTI (USOil) rose 2.14% to $78.02, the two clearest gainers among covered instruments and both now up more than 8% on the month.
Commodities and metals
The oil move stands out against a quieter metals tape. Silver was essentially flat on the day at $63.54, but the weekly picture is where the action sits: it is up 9.08% over the week and 66.44% on the year.
Gold eased 0.18% to $4,333.40, holding a 6.9% weekly gain. Platinum slipped 0.33% to $1,743.95, still up 6.73% over the week, while palladium was the softer name, down 0.94% to $1,370.70.
Crypto
Solana led the majors, up 1.81% to $77.27 and 5.22% higher on the week. BNB gained 1.29% to $607.24, extending a 5.9% monthly advance.
The larger caps were steadier. Bitcoin added 0.29% to $65,089 and Ethereum rose 0.38% to $1,922.48, up 7.62% on the month. XRP edged up 0.48% to $1.043 but remains down 2.91% over the week. Cardano slipped 0.3% to $0.1984, yet still carries a 20.02% monthly gain.
Indices
Europe closed mixed and narrow. The Euro Stoxx 50 rose 0.46% to 6,530.68 and the CAC 40 added 0.23% to 8,722.16, while the DAX 40 dipped 0.09% to 26,329.22 and the IBEX 35 fell 0.13%. The FTSE 100 was little changed, down 0.05% at 10,886.60.
Asia had set a firmer tone, with the Hang Seng up 1.04% to 25,812.66. US futures were flat to lower as London wound down: the S&P 500 eased 0.13% and the Dow slipped 0.24%, while the Nasdaq 100 held near unchanged, up 0.02% and 2.99% on the week.
Currencies
Major FX barely moved. EUR/USD sat at 1.15585 and GBP/USD at 1.3492, both up 0.02% on the day, while USD/JPY eased 0.06% to 157.69.
The commodity- and EM-linked pairs did the running. USD/ZAR fell 0.35% to 16.048, down 2.85% on the week, and USD/NOK dropped 0.32% to 9.46522. USD/MXN slipped 0.18% to 17.101.
Crude’s advance remains the session’s clearest single story, with silver’s weekly run the standout on the longer horizon.
