The US Core PCE Price Index for the month lands at 12:30 UTC on 26 August. As the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure, it is the marquee macro release of the session and draws attention across dollar-linked markets.
What the Core PCE Price Index measures
The Core Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index tracks the month-on-month change in the prices US consumers pay for goods and services, excluding the volatile food and energy categories. Markets watch it closely because it is the gauge the Fed leans on most when assessing progress toward its inflation target, giving it direct relevance for interest-rate expectations.
The forecast is 0.2%, compared with 0.1% in the previous reading. Because the release feeds directly into how traders read the policy path, the figure is scrutinised for any deviation from that consensus.
How the USD-linked pairs are trading
With no traditional major-pair moves in our feed, the dollar-sensitive instruments on the board are digital assets, most of them lower on the session. Cardano (ADAUSD) is the biggest mover at 0.2084, down 5.66%. Stellar (XLMUSD) trades at 0.18357, off 5.08%, and Polkadot (DOTUSD) sits at 0.854, down 4.90%.
Dogecoin (DOGUSD) is at 0.086, lower by 4.34%, while Tezos (XTZUSD) trades at 0.197, down 3.43%. Bucking the trend, Polygon (MATUSD) is at 0.1113, up 4.51% on the day.
These are current snapshots from our feed and describe the day’s positioning, not a forecast of how the release will be received.
Traders watch the Core PCE print for how it aligns with the 0.2% forecast and what that signals for the inflation trajectory the Fed monitors.
