The Reserve Bank of Australia delivered its Cash Rate decision, Monetary Policy Statement and Rate Statement at 04:30 UTC on 11 August 2026. The Australian dollar softened broadly in the immediate aftermath, with AUDUSD posting the largest move.

Where the AUD moved

AUDUSD led the reaction, easing 0.22% from 0.70609 to 0.70455.

AUDCAD followed close behind, slipping 0.20% from 0.98347 to 0.98146.

AUDCHF eased 0.19%, moving from 0.57201 to 0.57092, while AUDJPY dropped 0.19% from 112.39 to 112.179.

GBPAUD rose 0.18% from 1.91392 to 1.91741, reflecting a softer Aussie against sterling. AUDSGD rounded out the moves, down 0.18% from 0.90366 to 0.90205.

What the reaction shows

The reaction was uniform and modest in scale, with the Australian dollar weaker across every pair in our feed. The tight clustering of moves - all within roughly 0.18% to 0.22% - points to a broad-based AUD reaction rather than a story driven by any single counter-currency.

The largest declines came against the US dollar and Canadian dollar, while the moves against the yen, franc, and Singapore dollar were marginally smaller. The gain in GBPAUD mirrors the same theme from the sterling side.

Taken together, the moves describe a measured, contained softening in the Aussie in the minutes following the RBA event, with no outsized swing in any one pair.
