Risk assets open the day on the back foot. Crypto took the sharpest hits, the Nasdaq 100 extended its slide, and both crude benchmarks gave back ground.
Crypto
The altcoin complex led the losers’ board. Tezos (XTZ) fell 7.2% to $0.1831, now down 17.86% on the month.
Uniswap (UNI) dropped 4.74% and Cardano (ADA) shed 4.53% to $0.158, extending a 9.14% weekly loss. Polkadot (DOT) fell 4.36%.
The majors held up better in relative terms. Bitcoin eased 0.84% to $64,776, still up 1.23% on the month, while Ethereum slipped just 0.49% to $1,943 and remains 8.07% higher over 30 days.
Indices
US tech was the weak spot. The Nasdaq 100 fell 1.85% to 28,042.88, down 3.74% on the week, with the S&P 500 off 0.8% and the Dow roughly flat.
The Nikkei 225 was the standout decliner, dropping 2.3% to 63,851.89 and now down 5.25% over the week β though still up 32% on the year.
Europe ran the other way. The IBEX 35 rose 0.98%, the CAC 40 added 0.82% and the Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.7%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 1.13%, holding a 10% monthly advance.
FX and Commodities
The dollar firmed at the margins. GBPUSD fell 0.46% to 1.32866 and EURUSD eased 0.22% to 1.13661, while USDCHF rose 0.25%. USDJPY was little changed at 163.70.
Crude retreated after a strong month. USOil fell 2.95% to $81.10 and UKOil dropped 2.55% to $84.94, both still up around 17% over 30 days.
In metals, silver slipped 2.05% to $58.41 and gold eased 0.42% to $4,076.88. Palladium bucked the trend, adding 1.04%. (Note: the XAUSGD print of +65.75% appears to be a feed anomaly against a broadly flat gold tape.)
Into the session, tech and the broader crypto complex remain the clearest pockets of weakness.
