Energy set the tone into Wednesday. Brent (UKOil) fell 3.95% to 81.58 and WTI (USOil) dropped 3.57% to 78.37, extending weekly losses of roughly 10% for both. Despite the slide, each still holds a month-to-date gain above 12%.

Energy and Metals

Crude was the clearest weak spot on the board, and the softness carried into precious metals.

Silver led the metals lower, off 2.14% to 57.11, now down 8.4% on the month. Gold eased 1.09% to 4,029.02, trimming its weekly move to -2.52%. Platinum (-0.85%) and palladium (-1.75%) also drifted lower.

The metals complex has cooled across the week, though gold still sits marginally higher on the year.

Crypto

The day’s biggest gainers came from crypto, though the moves were uneven.

UNI jumped 5.05% to 3.8925, the top mover on the board, and Cardano rose 2.97% to 0.1596 β€” even as ADA remains down 5% on the week. Ethereum added 1.43% to 1,917.37, standing out with an 8.35% monthly gain.

Bitcoin was quieter, up 0.24% to 63,831.86 and roughly flat on the month. Solana (-0.16%) and XRP (-0.11%) lagged the greener names.

Equities and FX

European and UK indices firmed. The FTSE 100 rose 0.99% to 10,896.62 and the Dow added 0.96%. The Nikkei 225 was the laggard, down 1.75% to 62,351.54 and off 6.32% on the week. The Nasdaq 100 also slipped 0.72%.

Majors were muted. EUR/USD ticked up 0.19% to 1.13902, GBP/USD held flat at 1.3289, and USD/JPY barely moved at 163.80. The rand firmed, with USD/ZAR down 1.23%.

Across the session, crude and the metals complex remain the standout soft patch, while tech-heavy indices stay under pressure on the week.
