Energy is the clearest story on the board this morning. Both crude benchmarks pushed higher, extending a strong run that now spans weeks.

Commodities

US crude (USOil) rose 2.30% to $83.67, and Brent (UKOil) added 2.27% to $88.68. The move builds on a stretched trend: WTI is up 17.35% on the month and 28.51% on the year, with Brent tracking close behind at 19.33% and 29.53%.

Metals were quieter. Gold slipped 0.57% to $3,995.49, still up 6.25% year-on-year. Silver was effectively flat at $55.91 but sits down 2.92% on the week. Platinum eased 0.47% to $1,588.05.

Currencies

The majors opened calm, with the dollar barely moved against most peers. EUR/USD dipped 0.06% to 1.14279, GBP/USD was steady at 1.34464, and USD/JPY held at 162.34.

The dollar’s firmest ticks came against the Scandies and rand: USD/SEK gained 0.29% and USD/ZAR rose 0.33%. USD/CHF added 0.21% to 0.80876. Longer context still favours sterling, which is up 2.15% on the month against the dollar.

Crypto

Digital assets were mostly under pressure. Bitcoin eased 0.57% to $64,415, though it remains 8.30% higher on the month. Ethereum was flat at $1,862.30.

The standouts sat at the edges. Stellar led the space with a 1.76% gain to $0.19067, and Litecoin added 1.28% to $47.52. On the downside, CHZ dropped 5.10%, GRT fell 3.57%, and Polkadot slid 2.63% to $0.813 β€” the latter still down nearly 75% on the year.

What to watch

Crude remains the session’s dominant mover, with the oil complex carrying the strongest momentum across every timeframe in the data. Smaller-cap crypto names remain the weak spot as majors tread water.

Note: the Gold/Singapore Dollar reading appears distorted in this session’s feed and has been left out of the summary.
