Crude is the standout as the session opens. Both benchmarks gained more than 2%, extending a run that now stretches back weeks.

Energy

USOil rose 2.3% to $83.67, with UKOil up 2.27% to $88.68. The move is not a one-off: both are up around 5-6% on the week and 17-19% on the month.

On a yearly view, US crude sits 28.5% higher and Brent 29.5%, keeping energy the firmest corner of the board.

Currencies

The majors are quiet. EUR/USD holds at 1.14279, down a marginal 0.06% but still up 0.4% on the week. GBP/USD trades at 1.34464, roughly flat on the day and 2.15% higher over the month.

USD/JPY barely moved at 162.34. The dollar’s firmest gains came against the franc and krona, with USD/CHF up 0.21% and USD/SEK up 0.29%. USD/ZAR added 0.33% to 16.494.

Metals

Gold slipped 0.57% to $3,995.49, leaving it broadly flat on the week. Silver was unchanged at $55.91, though it remains down about 3% over both the week and month. Platinum eased 0.47% to $1,588.05.

Crypto

Digital assets are mixed and mostly lower. Stellar led the majors, up 1.76% to $0.19067, with Litecoin close behind at +1.28%.

Bitcoin dipped 0.57% to $64,415, still holding an 8.3% monthly gain. Ethereum was essentially flat at $1,862.30 but is up 18.66% over the month.

The damage was concentrated in the smaller names. CHZ fell 5.1%, GRT dropped 3.57%, and Polkadot lost 2.63% to $0.813.

What to watch

Energy remains the session’s clear leader, while the smaller-cap tokens are the day’s soft spot. The FX majors, by contrast, are opening with little conviction in either direction.
