The Federal Reserve’s FOMC press conference landed at 18:30 UTC on 29 July 2026, and the immediate reaction skewed higher across metals and crypto. Silver led the move, firming as the US dollar side of these pairs eased.
Where the USD moved
Silver (XAGUSD) posted the largest reaction, climbing 0.88% from 58.16 to 58.67.
Palladium (XPDUSD) followed closely, up 0.83% from 1266.89 to 1277.39.
Crypto pairs also edged up. Uniswap (UNIUSD) rose 0.72% from 3.9585 to 3.987, while Ether (ETHUSD) added 0.67%, moving from 1905.67 to 1918.45. Cardano (ADAUSD) gained 0.66%, ticking from 0.16565 to 0.16675.
Polygon (MATUSD) was the outlier, barely moving with a 0.14% rise from 0.0718 to 0.0719.
What the reaction shows
The reaction concentrated in the precious metals complex, where silver and palladium recorded the two largest post-release moves. The broadly consistent gains across silver, palladium and the larger crypto pairs point to a softer dollar tone immediately after the conference.
Moves were modest in scale, all under one percent, and the smallest names such as Polygon showed little response. That leaves the picture as a measured, uniform lift rather than a sharp repricing in any single instrument.
