The European Central Bank published its Main Refinancing Rate decision and Monetary Policy Statement at 12:15 UTC on 23 July 2026. In the roughly three hours since, the euro’s response has been contained, with EUR/TRY posting the widest swing at a modest -0.18%.
Where the EUR moved
EUR/TRY led the moves, easing to 53.858 from 53.953 just before the release, a decline of 0.18%.
EUR/PLN was the largest gainer, firming to 4.3332 from 4.3270, up 0.14%.
EUR/NOK slipped to 10.9376 from 10.9521, a fall of 0.13%, while EUR/SEK edged higher to 11.1093 from 11.0988, up 0.10%.
The remaining pairs barely stirred. EUR/CAD softened to 1.6022 from 1.6032, down 0.07%, and EUR/CHF was essentially flat at 0.9296 from 0.9297, a move of just -0.01%.
What the reaction shows
The reaction was muted across the board, with every tracked pair moving less than a fifth of a percent. There was no single dominant direction: the euro slipped against the lira, the Norwegian krone and the Canadian dollar, yet firmed against the zloty and the Swedish krona.
The concentration of activity in EUR/TRY, EUR/PLN and EUR/NOK, alongside a near-frozen EUR/CHF, points to a market that absorbed the decision without a decisive shift in tone. On our M15 feed, the spread of moves stayed narrow through the session.
